We strive to offer accurate descriptions, and we inspect our books
both at listing and again at shipping to confirm their condition. If a book has been damaged in
storage, or we overlooked a defect, we will notify you via email and request your acceptance
before shipment. If you do not wish to accept it, we will cancel the order and
issue a full refund.
NEW: Brand new unused books without noticeable shelf wear.
VERY GOOD: Item(s) may be publisher remainders, new items with light
shelf wear, or very well preserved used books. Very Good items have clean texts, without highlighting or
underlining, and nice covers free of bends. Publisher remainders are new books with an unattractive marker slash
along either the top, bottom, or over the UPC code.
GOOD: Item(s) may be library withdrawals,
with the usual tags, stamps, and call numbers on spine; books containing owners names and stamps;
or moderately worn used books with pencil notes or minimal ink underlining or highlighting. They
are visibly used books: they look used, but not battered.
ACCEPTABLE: Item(s) show significant wear,
contain extensive highlighting or ink underlining, have light water damage, or are otherwise
unattractive inside or out, but they remain usable copies without repair. They are reading copies,
and are often used textbooks.
POOR: Item(s) require repair or
restoration. Usually these are hard to find items in need of rebinding, sometimes they simply have
weakening bindings or loose pages. We do not list poor items unless they are rare or possess
enduring scholarly merit that makes their preservation worthwhile.
Important Note all books become more fragile with age, but paperbacks
in particular age poorly. Paperbacks over 40 years old require gentle handling during reading to
insure integrity. Even if unread, the glues in the spine grow more fragile with time. Please
consider your reading habits when choosing a copy for purchase.
